I have about 6 different brands of cocktail strainers and invariably the best are the ones that have the tightest coils in the springs—they hold back all the extra fruit, ice shard, and foam that you may not want in the glass. Still, you can slide the mechanism forward and backward to get a more open pour when you want one. I have this exact strainer in this finish and gunmetal, branded for Death and Co.’s merch store. There’s was *much* more expensive, so this one is a steal. It’s very stuidy, nicely heavy in the hand, and the long stem gives excellent leverage in the pour for controlling the gate and back and forth motion. I typically turn to it over all the other strainers and, weirdly, regard it as my “good” strainer. It’s a 5 for me and I think you will dig it.
