This review is for the Chicago Electric 10″ Sliding Compound Miter Saw.First thing I need to say, Chicago Electric is not, as many might assume given the price, an ‘off brand’. Chicago Electric is a brand sold by Harbor Frieght tools, and the pricing is so low because this is a legitimate case of cutting out middle men to save you money, and a case of you aren’t paying a hundred bucks extra for a name on the side of the machine. This saw is a very solid and durable tool. Very well made and of a quality I’d expect to pay quite a lot more for. This was bought to replace a 7 inch Delta saw my dad had for years. He wanted one like this but at the time that wasn’t gonna happen because they were all about $500.To save you some digging:Motor is 5000rpmBlade is 10″ with a 5/8″ arborCuts boards up to a foot in widthCuts at up to a 45 degree angle left and right.Cuts up to a 45 degree bevel, but only to the left. Both ways on that is the next saw up.Saw does not come with a blade. Be sure to buy one alongside this ( I point this out in case it’s a gift. Hopefully that saves someone an oh crap moment when the recipient opens it an wants to try it out)This is overall a great tool. Amazing value for the money, though I have to give a piece of advice that doesn’t reflect on this item but needs to be said. If you can possibly swing the extra money to get the double bevel, do it. I didn’t, and though I am truly delighted with this I was stabbed with buyers remorse when I realized that the double bevel wasn’t very much more money.Barring that, I absolutely recommend this to anyone who needs a miter saw. Especially if the bevel is no big deal to you, this is the saw to get, period.
