five stars…for now. if it lasts 24 months, i will let the 5 stars stand.come to find out the old one hadn’t actually failed after all, but i just left this one in there anyway. this is an easy but tedious repair.one thing i noticed is that the solenoids on this are smaller than the BMW original part as well as a FEBI Bilstein replacement. probably 20% smaller. ehhhh…who cares? for half or less the price you can’t beat it. Let’s face it, if you are still maintaining e46 and e53 era BMW’s you are likely a budget conscious individual (like myself) and when something works and works well, there’s no shame (for me at least) in using a knockoff brand. and i’d question the logic of installing the $200 BWW equivalent in my kids e53 which i babied for the first 170k but is now facing tribulations that no one could imagine in the hands of a teenage girl (and her posse ; )who knows how long it will last. regardless, it allowed me to troubleshoot a suspected heater valve problem on the cheap…only to find out that it was the final stage resistor causing issues. (slaps forehead) FOLKS, if you drive an early-mid 2000’s BMW and you have ANY problems with your AC or HEAT, replace the FSR FIRST! before ANYTHING ELSE.it can cause SO many different issues that you will never diagnose your problem otherwise. i held off on replacing mine for several years and chased other problems because i never got the commonly cited “varying fan speeds”. Then my kid calls me and says her battery is dead. Turned out the Blower ran all night long. why? bad FSR. when i put in the new FSR, the broken AC started working again and the heat acted normally once more.
